As Technical Director of the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA), he advanced technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and best practices across the Middle East and North Africa. He worked closely with regional fertilizer producers, international technology licensors, engineering contractors, and equipment suppliers. At AFA, he drove technical capacity building through international conferences, workshops, and training programs. He served as Secretary of the AFA Technical Committee and Rapporteur for key working groups, including Energy Efficiency and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). Internationally, he contributed to multiple committees at the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), served on its Strategic Advisory Team, peer-reviewed major studies (including the IEA Ammonia Technology Roadmap), supported IFA phosphogypsum guidance, and collaborated with the EBRD on Egypt’s Ammonia Decarbonization Roadmap.

He spent 18 years at Stamicarbon as a Senior Process Engineer, where he led the company's nitric acid technology development (mono and dual pressure) as part of Stamicarbon R&D, alongside designing, de-bottlenecking, and commissioning urea plants worldwide. Since 2023 he has run his own consultancy, advising companies including N2-Applied, Fichtner, Duiker, Proton Ventures, and Nitrocapt on green ammonia, nitrogen fixation, nitric acid production, process safety and process engineering best practices. I'm convinced that we as an industry can provide the solutions to make the world more sustainable — and I'm here to help build them.

After his study he worked for AkzoNobel, DSM and currently works for OCI Nitrogen. He had roles in process engineering, automation, process and project management. Since 2016 he is responsible for sustainability within OCI. In this role he developed many different projects for the decarbonization of the fertilizer industry.

He was part of revamp of Fauji Ammonia-1 plant. Moved to Fatima Fertilizer in 2007 for new Ammonia plant project leading Ammonia process team. Switched to Fertil (Adnoc), AbuDhabi in 2011. Had been part of revamp of existing plant and contribution in new Ammonia Urea complex Fertil-II as Sr process engineer. Moved to Yara Belgium in 2014 and currently working as Technology Manager in Technology and Projects department. Have commissioning experience of Fatima fertilizer, Fertil II ammonia, Yara Freeport Ammonia (joint venture project with BASF), concept studies of various blue and green ammonia plants. Multiple ammonia storage projects implemented. Have filed multiple patents in ammonia field.
